Desperately needing help at wide receiver, the Atlanta Falcons are acquiring Bryan Edwards from the Las Vegas Raiders.

The deal was reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The Raiders will send a seventh-round draft pick to Atlanta for a fifth-round pick, according to a report.

The Raiders have a new general manager and a new head coach.

The Bryan Edwards trade means the first five picks in the #Raiders' 2020 draft are all gone:1. WR Henry Ruggs III (released)1b. CB Damon Arnette (released)3. WR Lynn Bowden Jr. (traded) 3b. WR Bryan Edwards (traded)

3c. S Tanner Muse (released)

The Falcons had the worst group of receivers in the league after selecting Drake London.

Prior to the deal for Edwards, London, Auden Tate and Olamide were projected to be their starting wideouts. Since he lined up in the slot or out wide on 78.2% of his snaps as a first-year player, KylePitts could also be thrown into the mix.

The Falcons have embraced their need to rebuild. They traded Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts because they didn't want to run things back for another run.

There were indications that their seven wins in 2021 were more smoke and mirrors than a sign of progress. They had the worst point differential in the league.

Marcus Mariota was signed by Atlanta as a free agent. The team selected Ridder with the 74th pick.

Arthur Smith told reporters that Mariota will be the starting quarterback going into camp, but there will be an open competition with Ridder.

The Falcons should be looking for someone like that right now. He has two years left on his contract and showed a lot of potential.

He had at least 30 catches in yards per reception. He finished third on the Raiders with 571 yards and was second on the team with three touchdown catches.
