It is hard for followers to decipher which account is real because the accounts copy many aspects of real accounts.

It is hard for influencer to do anything about it. After warning their followers about the scam for over a year, creators say they need to take action.

Insider spoke with eight creators who post content about personal finance, investing, and cryptocurrencies who said that this has become a big issue for them in the past year. The fake accounts use the name, profile photo, and content of the influencer to trick their followers into thinking they are real.

The recent increase in fake accounts had a negative effect on the careers of theinfluencers and the relationship they have with their followers. They said that they wanted the verification and reporting processes to be easier.

According to a message on her Instagram Help Center, Sarah Rosalia told Insider that her account was disabled for over a week for "pretending to be someone else."

She said that none of this would have happened had she been able to get verification for her account.

They haven't given me check mark verification, and I've applied for it many times over the last year. That would be a strong way for followers to know that it is me.

Insider found 20 fake accounts on the photo sharing site. The accounts used the same picture and password. One fake account has over 94,000 followers and another has over 35,000, which is more than Zlatic has on the photo sharing site.

Zlatic said that trying to get verified has been a nightmare.

He thinks the blue check mark would be huge.

These scammers don't just copy influencers' accounts. They also actively pursue their followers by following and sending a direct message to someone after they follow the real account.

Rose Han, who goes by the name Investing with Rose, said that the bot must have some code where as soon as someone new follows her, the fake account will message them.

The accounts were pretending to be Han.

This issue could be solved by hiding the following list for creators.

The platform sent over more information on the verification process after Insider contacted them.

The company said that they have built reporting into the app and have dedicated forms for people to let them know when someone else is using their content without permission, so they can take action.
