The use of the wordbald was argued to be an insult to a protected characteristic of sex.

The judge ruled that calling a man bald can be considered sexual harassment.

The three members of the tribunal who decided on the ruling had experience with hair loss and said that it was more common in men than in women. They argued that the use of the wordbald was an insult to a protected characteristic of sex.

The 1995 case was used by the tribunal to compare calling a man bald to commenting on the size of a woman's breasts.

The ruling was made on a case where the insult was used against Tony Finn while he worked as an electrician.

Finn had worked at the company for over two decades, manufacturing wooden casks for the beer industry in Yorkshire in the northeast of England. The circumstances around his dismissal were part of the case.

Finn claimed that he was threatened by his shift supervisor, Jamie King, in a dispute in July 2019.

The tribunal determined that using this insult was a violation against the claimant's dignity, and that it was done for the purpose of intimidating him.

Finn was found to have used profanities in the workplace, but the tribunal members thought it was not the use of profanities that was the issue.

Finn is set to be compensated for the tribunal's ruling.
