See the helicopter from the booster cam.

New views of the booster glitch have been given by Rocket Lab.

The company used a helicopter to catch the falling first stage of its two-stage Electron rocket on May 2.

The video of the historic catch was posted on Wednesday. It gives us a view of the helicopter as it came within range of the booster to grab its parachute line with a hook.

Now these are views we could get used to.

There are photos of the rocket lab and its booster.

The helicopter pilots were not happy with the way the booster was flying, so they released it, and the rocket splashed down safely.

He was referring to the company's recovery ship, which towed the rocket back to shore.

The helicopter recovery is part of a larger effort to make the first stages of the Electron rocket re-usable. Company representatives say this will eventually reduce launching costs and increase launch frequencies.

The company has elected to use a helicopter over the approach by SpaceX, which uses engine burns to steer its Falcon 9.
