Alex Rodriguez is a part-owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves, but he could look to add an MLB team to his portfolio.

J on Heyman of the New York Post said that Rodriguez would be interested in buying his hometown team if it was available.

Bruce Sherman and his partners are said to be quite displeased with a balance sheet showing them hemorrhaging money since purchasing the team, so inquiries have increased.

Rodriguez has added incentive to buy the team after his former teammate and CEO of the Yankees,Derek Jeter, stepped down. According to Heyman, Rodriguez would relish the chance to succeed where he didn't.

Joe Dunand, Rodriguez's nephew, hit a home run in his debut for the Marlins. Heyman was told that his interest would be dependent on price, despite the fact that many signs pointed to Rodriguez being a natural fit to buy the Marlins.

This isn't the first time that Rodriguez tried to own an MLB franchise. He and his fiancée lost out to Steve Cohen in the bidding to purchase the New York Mets.

Rodriguez could have a lot of competition if Miami is put up for sale.
