Philippe Coutinho has scored against Manchester United, Leeds (2) and Southampton since joining Aston Villa on loan

Philippe Coutinho has signed a permanent deal with Villa.

The Brazilian moved to Villa Park on loan in January with an option to buy at the end of the season.

He signed a deal for an undisclosed fee.

Phil is a model professional and his impact on the group has been clear since he joined.

This is a great signing for Villa.

With the way he conducts himself on and off the pitch, he is also a valuable role model for our younger players who can only benefit from his experience.

As we look to build towards next season, it is incredible to work at a club that executes its business so well.

He has scored four goals and provided three assists, but none of them have come in the past eight games.

He joined Barcelona in January of last year and had a year to run on his contract.

After Saturday's impressive 3-1 win at BURNLEY, Steven Gerrard made it clear that he wanted to sign Coutinho permanently.

The Brazilian scored 54 goals in 202 appearances for the Reds, who he joined in January of 2013 from Inter Milan.

He scored 26 goals for Barcelona.
