Raiders Rumors: Jarrett Stidham, 7th-Round Pick Acquired in Trade with Patriots

According to reports, the New England and Las Vegas Raiders have agreed to a trade that will send quarterback Jarrett Stidham to Vegas.

The Raiders will get a sixth-round draft pick and the New England will get a seventh-round pick.

The fourth round of the NFL draft saw the New England Patriots pick up a player in the form of a former college teammate.

Western Kentucky quarterback Bailey Zappe was selected by New England in the fourth round of the 2022 draft.

The Pats decided to move on rather than letting him compete after he was put on the bubble.

Second-year man Mac Jones is a strong bet to make the team in 2022, with veteran Brian Hoyer possibly figuring into the mix as well.

There was a time when it was thought that he would be the heir apparent to Tom Brady, and he only saw limited action in three games as Brady's backup.

After Brady left the Pats, there was a time when it looked like he would be the starter in 2020. Instead, New England gave the starting job to a veteran in free agency.

In 2020 he played in a backup role, going 22-of-44 for 258 yards with two touchdown and three turnovers.

Jones was selected with the 15th pick in the 2021 NFL draft, after the Pats missed out on the playoffs in 2020.

Jones won the starting job. While he was with the team, he didn't see a lot of action.

As he will compete with Nick Mullens,Garrett Gilbert and Chase Garbers for the backup role behind Derek Carr in Las Vegas, there is a good chance that he will be the primary backup.

He may have a leg up because of his familiarity with the Vegas system since he was the New England offensive line coach.

The 25 year old Stidham has some potential that can be unlocked.
