Editor's Notes: After what feels like years of wearing slouchy YEEZY gear, the image of Kanye in a Canadian tuxedo ( again) is kinda jarring. For most people, doubling down on indigo denim is a huge swerve, but given how accustomed we've become to Kanye and athleisure, this fit actually feels fresh. The mix of shades just about works, as does the decision to go buttoned. Plus, bonus points are awarded for having the gall to turn up at an awards ceremony looking so workmanlike in the first place.

Of course, West has always been a denim guy. He was partial to a vintage Levi's jacket during the 808s & Heartbreak and YEEZUS eras, and then there are the relatively recent hits like his Helmut Lang paint-splatter jeans and Balmain bejeweled jacket. Whether this represents a permanent move away from the YEEZY aesthetic is doubtful - after all, Kanye was in chilly NYC - but it still proves, unequivocally, that denim and its looser styles are having a moment.
