According to an email from the Cruise Planners executive team, American Express will end its travel representative network division at the end of the year.
The email was meant to inform advisors of the change ahead, and Cruise Planners confirmed it was correct.
A request for comment was not returned by American Express.
Cruise Planners said that the representative network division will end on December 31. Cruise Planners has been an AmEx affiliate for 18 years.
American Express has always been a financial institution with their primary business being a credit card transactions company, as most people know American Express to be, according to Cruise Planners.
The Fine Hotels & Resorts program and Cruise Privileges Plus are some of the benefits that the travel advisors at Cruise Planners will still have access to.
Cruise Planners said that marketing and technology came from in-house. The only change will be the removal of AmEx's logo from its assets.
