The FA Youth Cup was won by Manchester United for the 11th time in front of the biggest crowd in the competition's history.
More than 67,000 more people attended the game at Old United than the previous best, which was in 2007.
Alejandro Garnacho scored two goals in the final 13 minutes to give Manchester United a 2-0 victory over Wigan.
Garnacho, who was called up to the senior Argentina squad in March, kept his cool when he was awarded a controversial penalty by the referee. After Garnacho scored, he shouted "siuuu" - a drawn-out version of the Portuguese word for "yes" - in celebration.
Garnacho's record 11th triumph in the competition for United was sealed in the last minute when he darted into the box and the ball flew into the corner.
The travelling support of Forest wentaded United with a chant of "you're not famous any more" during the opening period.
Steve Cooper, the Forest first-team boss, was also in attendance.
The visitors, coached by a former United reserve team boss, Warren Joyce, deserved their equaliser even though Josh Powell's speculative shot only went in thanks to a huge error from United.
The home fans were given a rare chance to celebrate at the end of a disappointing first-team season that has left them without a trophy.
There was one significant chant against the Glazer family, but noisy protests against them were largely absent.
