Passenger Lands Plane After Pilot Gets Sick

In a scene that is reminiscent of the 1980 cult comedy Airplane!, a passenger with no flying experience took over the controls of a flight from the pilot who was suffering a medical emergency.

WPBF was the first to report that air traffic controllers were able to help the passenger get the plane to land.

The passenger told the controllers that there was a serious situation and that they had 70 miles of the final destination. I don't know how to fly the airplane.

The air traffic controller had no idea what the passenger's position was.

The logs show that the air traffic controllers located the craft and guided the passenger/pilot/hero into a safe descent along the Florida coast. The pilots told the news affiliate that the feat was absolutely incredible, considering how the tower recordings show the man fumbling with the craft.
