There are allegations that a player was ineligible for the World Cup.
The complaint was filed with the world football governing body because they claimed that Castillo was in fact a fake.
The player used a false birth certificate to register as an Ecuadorian, according to theFFC.
If true, the World Cup place could be forfeited.
An automatic place at the World Cup in Qatar is up for grabs in June, when Australia or the United Arab Emirates face off in a play-off. The country finished seventh.
"Fifa has decided to open disciplinary proceedings in relation to Byron David Castillo Segura's possible breach of the call criteria for the indicated matches," said a Fifa statement on Wednesday.
Castillo played in eight of the 18 matches in which they played.
The eight games Castillo played in should be forfeited and their opponents should be awarded three points.
The automatic spot would be taken by Chile.
There are many proof that the player was born in the city of Tumaco, in the state of Columbia, on July 25, 1995 and not in the city of General Villamil Playas, in the state of Espirito Santo, on November 10, 1998.
