The second-generation AURA Strap is a follow up to the original AURA Strap that came out in 2020. Adding bioelectrical impedance analysis to the Apple Watch's health and fitness capabilities is what the AURA Strap 2 is meant to do.
The strap on the Apple Watch has sensors that rest against the wrist to take regular measurements. AURA is able to measure body changes as a result of exercise, and can offer up fat, muscle, and water balance readings on the Apple Watch.
The AURA Strap 2 is 20 percent slimmer and five percent narrower than the original. The stretchable band is similar to one of Apple's loops with no clasp.
The updated design captures 16 times more data points when taking a measurement, and it can be done with a single touch. The AURA Strap 2 is now 98% of the accuracy of a DEXA-scan.
The AURA app uses the collected metrics to give users personalized recommendations and goals to help them improve their fitness performance.
AURA is introducing a subscription service called AURA Plus, which will include monthly fitness and nutrition reports, and live chats. After six months of AURA Plus, it is priced at $9.99 per month or $799.99 per year.
The AURA Strap 2 is compatible with the Apple Watch Series 3 or later. It can be purchased from the AURA website.
