From next Monday, face masks won't have to be worn on flights and in airports in EU countries.

The EU Aviation Safety Agency said the move is in line with changing anti- Covid policies across Europe.

France, Italy and Bulgaria have relaxed their rules.

From next week, face masks will no longer need to be compulsory in air travel in all cases, aligning with the changing requirements of national authorities across Europe for public transport.

It is a relief to all of us that we are finally reaching a stage in the Pandemic where we can start to relax the health safety measures.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control gave some cautionary advice.

Although the wearing of masks will no longer be compulsory, it is important to remember that it is one of the best ways to reduce transmission.

Airlines should encourage passengers to wear masks on flights if masks still have to be worn on public transport, according to the EU agencies.

As of 16 May 2022, aircraft operators should continue to encourage their passengers and crew members to wear face masks even if they don't wear a face mask.
