Chriss followed Biyombo off the court and through the tunnel after they were ejected from the game.
Chriss made a foul on Biyombo with 2.3 seconds remaining. Chriss pushed his arm away as Biyombo turned around to approach him.
The referee assessed each player a technical foul and ejected them. Biyombo went to the Suns locker room after exiting the court. Chriss followed through the tunnel. He was supposed to exit through the tunnel on the opposite side of the court. Chriss was familiar with the difference in the two routes, having played the first two seasons of his career in Phoenix.
Several members of both teams' security staffs, as well as Dallas backup center Boban Marjanovic, followed after Chriss in an effort to prevent further incident.
Chriss was taken back through the tunnel to the Mavs locker room.
Suns coach Monty Williams said after the game that they were just trying to win the game. I am aware of how chippy it can be. We just want to win the game. We are trying to get one more win, and that is our focus right now.
Chriss and Biyombo didn't speak to reporters.
Biyombo played 21 minutes for the Phoenix Suns before he was ejected. Biyombo, who joined the team on a 10-day contract in January, finished with seven points and seven boards.
Biyombo received DNPs in two of the first four games.
Williams said that the rotation change was just a decision and that he didn't know how it would work. When we looked at some of the matchups and the energy thatBiz brings to the game, we felt like we could make energy plays.
He did wow you with scoring and that kind of thing, but his attention to detail, his ability to play with multiple efforts on defense and then he can finish around the basket, he is tough.
With Biyombo ejected, the Suns replaced him with forward Cameron Johnson who took the free throws that Biyombo would have been awarded. The Suns have five 30-point wins in franchise history, including the second straight playoffs in which they achieved the feat.
The Suns have a chance to finish off the Mavericks in Dallas on Thursday and advance to the conference finals for the second year in a row.
