The CEO of the airline said on Tuesday that it was connecting people by still flying to Russia.

It is a government decision. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum told CNBC that there was no instruction to stop flights there. The government of Dubai is the owner of the airline.

Major carriers pulled out of Russia due to the sanctions over the Ukraine war. The United Arab Emirates has not condemned Russia for the war in Ukraine or imposed sanctions against the country.

The services to Russia to link up people between the country and the United States were said to be provided by the Emirates.

Al Maktoum told CNBC that they are connecting people between the two countries.

In March, Tim Clark defended the airline's flights to Russia.

We have humanitarian goods in our holds. We have NGOs in and out of Russia. Clark said that the diplomatic community was going in and out of Russia, and that they were only doing that to be an escargot, without taking a political position on the issue.

Turkish Airlines is one of the major airlines still serving Russia.
