The first overall pick in the NHL draft will be held in Montreal, becoming the first team since 1985 to own the top pick.

It will be the first time in 42 years that the team that made the Stanley Cup Final last season will pick first overall.

It is an exciting outcome for us. The draft will be held in Montreal, so our fans will be thrilled to have all of that anticipation and excitement.

The NHL draft is in July.

The second overall pick was earned by the New Jersey Devils. It will be the third time in the past six years that theDevils will have selected first or second overall.

The NHL's 16 non-playoff teams were ranked by their points percentage. Each team had a chance to get the first overall pick before the draft.

1. The Montreal Canadiens had an 18.5%) share of the vote. The New JerseyDevils had an 8.5% rate. The Arizona Coyotes have a percentage of 13.5%). The Seattle Kraken has an 11.5%) share. This year's NHL draft isn't expected to have a "generational talent" at the top of the board.

There are very few years in which you can get a Matthews or a McDavid in the draft, according to Ron Francis, the general manager of the Kraken.

Wright is a two-way center in the Ontario Hockey League. The USA Hockey National Team Development Program narrowed the gap between themselves and Wright, although NHL Central Scouting had Wright atop its final ranking.

The other two top prospects are Slovakian Olympians: Winger Juraj Slafkovsky of TPS of Liiga, and Defenseman Simon Nemec of Nitra in the Slovak Extraliga.

The NHL reduced the number of lottery draws from three to two in order to ensure that the team with the worst regular-season record is not drafted lower than third overall. If a team wins one of the lotteries, it will only be able to move up a maximum of 10 spots.

The fourth-greatest percentage likelihood among the remaining clubs was found in the drawing that determined the No. 2 drafting position.

Some clubs think that the teams that are struggling get the most help. Gary Bettman said last season that there are other teams that think the current system is fine. In order to try and reconcile those views, we thought a little bit of a tweaking was necessary.

The NHL passed a rule that no team will be able to move up the draft board if they win the lottery more than two times in a five-year period.

The two teams are on the clock.
