According to Rolling Stone, former President Donald Trump asked national security officials if China had produced technology to cause hurricanes in the United States during his first year in office.

According to Rolling Stone, two unnamed Trump Administration senior officials and another unnamed source with knowledge of the matter, Trump would ask advisors if the use of such a weapon would be considered an act of war, and if the U.S. should respond with military strikes.

There is no evidence that China or any other country has the technology to create and guide enormous storms on the other side of the planet.

As officials called it, Trump questioned about a Chinesehurricane gun until he seemed to dismiss the idea and started joking about it.

Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico were major hurricanes that struck the U.S. mainland during Trump's first year as president.

A spokeswoman for Trump did not respond to a request from Forbes.

A former White House official told Rolling Stone that it was almost too stupid for him to joke about it.

Key Background

During his time in office, Trump made a number of bizarre comments and controversies, which were caused by a historic increase in Hurricane activity across the Atlantic basin. It was reported that Trump told national security officials they should look into dropping nuclear bombs on developing tropical systems, an idea that has long been rejected by meteorologists. The National Hurricane Center forecast track included Alabama in the projected path of a storm. According to reports, Trump personally doctored the map using a Sharpie marker. Even though Alabama was not included in the fake storm track, it was apparently an effort from Trump to fire back at criticism over a September 1, 2019, post where he said South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama will most likely be hit harder than anticipated.

The New York Times reported last week that Trump asked the former Defense Secretary to suggest shooting missiles into Mexico to destroy the drug labs.

Trump kept asking if China was shooting us.

The ex-defense secretary claims that Trump wanted to blow up drug labs in Mexico.

Here's why we can't just "Nuke" Hurricanes.
