Ja Morant is doubtful for the rest of the playoffs because of a bone bruise in his right knee.
The extent of Morant's injury was revealed by an MRI. Memphis will be without their star point guard for a second straight game as they try to avoid elimination against the Golden State Warriors in Game 5 on Wednesday.
Morant is expected to make a full recovery according to the Grizzlies. They think he suffered a bone bruise on a fourth-quarter play in Game 3 when Jordan Poole trapped Morant and went for the basketball, but instead grabbed Morant's knee.
The NBA did not take action on the play, but the Grizzlies believe it was the play that caused Morant's injury.
Without Morant, the Grizzlies went 20-5 and missed his scoring down the stretch. After leading by three, Memphis missed six of its final eight shots in the loss.
Morant, who leads the NBA in clutch time scoring with 42 points this postseason, averaged 38.3% points, 8.3 assists and 6.7 rebound in this second-round series.
Jaren Jackson Jr. said that Ja dominates in the fourth quarter. I have to look at it, but I think we were missing. We missed.
It's... We had a chance. We had the lead. We lost it, you know what I mean? You watched how it went. We just make a couple more shots. We have to finish for sure. We are going to take some of that into Game 5.
