The new policy will clarify how the platform works to combat duplicative content. copypasta is an attempt by multiple individuals to duplicate content from an original source and share it widely. The social media giant first revealed in August 2020 that it would limit the visibility of copypasta and is now highlighting what it considers to be a violation and what action is taken to limit the visibility of such violations.
An example of a violation is the same content being sent by multiple accounts. Another example is a duplicate or copy-pasted message that will disrupt the experience of others.
We’ve been continuously working to combat spammy &
duplicative content on Twitter at scale and our new Copypasta and Duplicate Content policy clarifies what constitutes a violation along with what happens when it is violated. https://t.co/qA7uhMlgRD https://t.co/W9IyKRXFcQ

If a violation is found, the top search and trends results will be ineligible to feature the tweet. It won't recommend the timelines of users who don't follow the account that sent the tweet. The reply may be down-ranked in replies and excluded in email recommendations. Users who follow the author of a Tweet can see duplicate content.
A block of text, image or a combination of content that has been copied and pasted, or duplicated by any means across the platform can be referred to as copypasta or duplicative content.
duplicative content can be used to amplify content and possibly manipulate the platform's Trends and Top Search results.
While copypasta or duplicative Tweets on their own don't lead to account suspensions, they are subject to review and enforcement under the platform manipulation policy. When accounts are using automation or script to post duplicative content, there is a chance of a removal or suspicion. When the majority of an account's content consists of duplicative content, it's an instance where you may be able to take action.
The option to report potential violations of the policy is available through the three-dot menu. You will be asked to choose the option that best describes how a tweet is suspicious.
