Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Antonio Rudiger to join them on a free transfer in the summer.
A four-year deal is believed to be worth 400,000 per week, and will be signed by Rudiger on July 1.
The Germany international's contract with the Blues expires at the end of the season and Thomas Tuchel revealed last month that the defender had decided to reject a new deal.
A number of clubs across Europe were interested in him. The 29-year-old is thought to be flattered and impressed by Real's pursuit of him, as the first club to formally express an interest in signing him this summer.
Earlier this season, his representatives held talks with Barcelona, as well as Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.
John Terry expressed his disappointment at the impending exit of Rudiger. Terry wrote "How have we let this man go?" in reply to the Sky Sports post.
The sanctions placed on the club's owner made it impossible to extend his deal.

Since March, the European champions have been unable to negotiate transfers or contract extensions.
After his side's win over West Ham last month, Tuchel revealed that Rudiger had decided to leave. He told Sky Sports that he wants to leave the club. He told me about it in a private talk.
We gave everything, but we couldn't fight anymore because of the sanctions. Without the sanctions, we would be able to continue fighting, but our hands are tied. We do not take it personally. It is his decision.
He is a key figure and will stay that way until the end of the season. It is disappointing. We will miss him a lot.
He gives courage in the dressing room, the kind that everyone is afraid of, but the kind to play 50-55 games at an outstanding level. He is a top defender for me. We need to find another solution.

Tuchel said that in the moment not, because of the sanctions. Hopefully the sanctions will be over.
We had a connection from the beginning and he deserves my full support. I am happy that I was able to coach him in the team and the club did the same. The club tried everything but we can't fight anymore. We can't continue because we have the sanctions. It is what it is.
It would be great for sanctions to be lifted before the transfer window, but you can't pull grass for it to grow faster. We have to deal with reality. The situation is not clear for next season because the sanctions are still in place. The last weeks are what we try to focus on.
