Erling Haaland will be joining Manchester City.

Haaland will move to City this summer after they activated his release clause.

The club had been looking for a successor to their all-time top scorer, who joined Barcelona on a free transfer last summer.

City said that they have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Erling Haaland.

The transfer is subject to the club finalising terms with the player.

Haaland has scored 85 goals in 88 appearances since joining from Red Bull Salzburg.

Real Madrid and Barcelona spoke to Haaland about a potential deal, but he chose to move to Manchester.

The incoming signing for Manchester City was not discussed by the boss.

Everyone knows the situation. He said he shouldn't talk because he doesn't like to talk about the future.

When asked what impact a new number nine would have on the team, he said it would be a stronger team. We don't have a single defender or forward who will solve our defensive or scoring problems.

The club has to have a plan for the future. I am aware of and supportive of the decisions the club makes.

The transfer is one of the largest of the summer.

Mino Raiola had been involved in the discussions prior to his death.

Even though City are within touching distance of a second successive title achieved without an orthodox centre-forward, Guardiola has always stressed his desire to have one.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy refused to sell Harry Kane to City.

With Kane having two years left on his contract, Haaland is an easier deal to conclude.

He has scored 92 league goals in 121 appearances and last year became the youngest player to reach 20 goals in a season.

More to come.
