A source told Jeremy Fowler on Monday that veteran running back SonyMichel plans to sign with the Miami Dolphins.
Mike McDaniel is the first-year coach of the new-look Miami offense. Mostert and Chase Edmonds were the first to sign.
The Los Angeles Rams won the Super Bowl last season, and the team's leading scorer was running back Michel, who rushed for 845 yards and scored five touchdown.
He was acquired by the Rams from New England in August of last year. The team needed him after Akers tore his Achilles.
In December, after an injury to Darrell Henderson Jr, the starting lineup was changed to include Michel. In that month, he had two games in which he had more than 100 yards rushing. As Akers returned from his injury, his role in the playoffs diminished.
The 31st pick in the draft was taken by the New England. His fifth-year option was declined last May.
He ran for 3,137 yards and 18 touchdown in three seasons with the Pats.
