Williams finished second in voting a year ago and was just 11 points behind the winner.

The Suns finished with an NBA-best 64-18 regular-season record and earned the top seed in the Western Conference playoffs. The last time the Suns finished with at least 50 wins in the regular season was 10 years ago, and last year they made it to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1993.

Williams was honored with the National Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year award for a second straight season.

Williams is in his third season in Phoenix and his eighth overall as an NBA coach, including five with the New Orleans Pelicans. He has worked for 322-299.
