On the same day Russia celebrated its role in defeating Nazi Germany, many of the country's online platforms were defaced in protest. The Washington Post reported on Monday that Russians with smart TVs saw a message implicating them in the ongoing conflict. No to war.

The apparent hack targetted some of the country's largest internet companies, including Yandex. The video hosting has gone through a powerful cyberattack. The service said in a statement that it is not possible to access the platform at the moment. The attack was isolated and the content library wasn't accessed.

The country has come under constant attack from hackers since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine. Several official government websites, including one belonging to the Ministry of Defence, were attacked by Anonymous in the early days of the conflict. Several Russian state TV channels played the Ukranian national anthem, which is believed to have been committed by Anonymous. Microsoft and other western companies helped prevent Russian military hackers from disrupting one of the country's energy providers.
