A whole raft of new laptops is what ASUS is showing off today. All of them are getting new, more refined industrial design and the more prominent use of the Delta-style logo, as well as better thermals. The top of the range is the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED, a 5.6lb monster with a 16-inch, 16:10, 60Hz 4K display. There is space for a 12th-generation Intel Core processor, which can be used with an RTX 3060 graphics card. The most interesting aspect of the new machine is that it has more staying power than the raw brawn on offer. The new cooling system will allow the system to burn through a 140W TDP without being throttled, while generating just 40db in fan noise.
The Zenbook Pro 14 Duo is the one with that cutsey but surprisingly useful second screen, and it is the model which will catch most people's eyes. The product name refers to a 14.5-inch, 2,8K, 120Hz display up top and a 12.7-inch ScreenPad Plus. The ScreenPad Plus has a better auto-tilt which improves cooling. You will be able to order a 12th-generation Core i9-12900H and pair it with an RTX 3050 Ti graphics card.
I was able to play with this machine briefly before the announcement, and I am a fan. The model I was using included a 12th-generation Core i7-12700H with 16GB RAM, but performance seemed to be smooth. It is light and small, but given how much is crammed into that body, it might sound reductive. The only downside is that the cramped trackpad takes a long time to get used to, and feels ancient compared to most modern laptops.
The Zenbook Pro 15 Flip, the Zenbook S13 Flip, and the Zenbook S13 OLED are just a few of the machines that are getting anOLED display. The Zenbook Pro 17 has a bigger 17.3-inch display and can be configured with a Ryzen 9 6900HX processor and an RTX 3050 graphics card.
The Vivobook series are getting displays for several devices. There is an option to spec a Core i9-12900H or Ryzen 8 6900HX, up to 32GBDDR5 RAM, and a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti in the Vivibook Pro models. The 14-, 15- and 16-inch models of the Vivobook S series can be specced with either Intel Core i7 or Core i5 models, depending on your budget and needs.
The company is unloading versions of its existing 2-in-1 with themed accessories and kickstand covers. Philip Colbert is famous for his pop-art style imagery, the latter is working in what is described as a contemporary Californian psychedelic-pop aesthetic.
Many of these laptops will be available in the near future, with prices dependent on the many build-to-order options at hand. When the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED arrives, it will set you back a minimum of $2,500, while the Zenbook 14 Pro Duo OLED will retail for a minimum of $2,000.
