The two most hilarious-looking laptops of the show will be the ones from Asus.
You can feast your eyes on the limited artist editions of the Vivobook Slate. Philip Colbert of London and Steven Harrington of Los Angeles were involved in the creation of this line. The models present the unique world-view of the artist, with specially commissioned themed accessories and packaging featuring their original artwork.
These laptops are covered in art. I'm pretty sure this isn't what happened, but I would like to think that Asus gave each of these guys a Vivobook 13 Slate and a box of crayons and let them go to town.
Don't worry if you're confused about what these laptops are and who they're for. This is something that Asus likes to do. The company has collaborated with a lot of different artists in the past, and I love that they put out laptops that look ridiculous. They did a collaboration with Acronym and shipped a cardboard DJ deck with it, so make sure to check it out. You should just look.
I don't know who buys any of these things, the best answer to the question is a shrug. These are wonderful devices. Don't think about it too much.
It is covered in Colbert's original artwork, which appears to be a lot of eggs and lobsters. The back case is referred to multiple times in its promotional materials. I am not making this up, the device comes with a sculpted cartoon lobster figurine that is a funky stylus holder.
I think the edition is a bit over my head. There are palm trees with teeth, a dog wearing a bowtie, and an eyeball that is on fire in this design. Some of the palm trees look a bit hungry, but no lobsters to be seen. The dog is a recurring character of the show.
The Vivobook 13 Slate is not as good as the other laptops. It is a 2-in-1 laptop with a keyboard. The good news is that it only comes with an Intel processor that is not a good chip. Storage can only be maxed out at a maximum of 128GB. If you are buying it, you should assume it will be a small TV to watch things on.
That may be a viable use case for some people who are shopping in the egg-and-lobster-laptop category. I can imagine a lot of coffee shops and bars with a device like this. In a laptop market full of boring grays and blacks, a splash of unique flavor is always welcome.
The regular Vivobook 13 Slate is currently listed at $599.99, even though the prices of these devices haven't been provided. The devices are expected in the second half of the year.
