Will Smith deepfake in Kendrick Lamar 'The Heart Part 5' music video
Aftermath/UMG

Lamar wants to show that deepfakes are more than just porn and misinformation. The rapper has shared a music video for his song "The Heart Part 5" that revolves around fake celebrity faces superimposed on his body as he spits bars. The clip transitions between the visages of famous and occasionally notorious figures in recent Black culture, including Will Smith, OJ Simpson, and Kobe Bryant.

The creators of South Park formed a studio called Deep Voodoo. The video was directed by two people.

The faces are commentary on the Black experience. They represent different aspects of a common voice, and are included in some of the key verse. In that sense, the video by Kendrick is a reminder that deepfake technology can be useful for artistic expression in the right hands.
