The head of the Ukrainian Center for Civil Liberties, Oleksandra Matviichuk, joined Yahoo News National Reporter Garin Flowers to discuss the allegations of rampant sexual violence, including rape, inflicted upon Ukrainian civilians by Russian forces. Due to the ongoing conflict, lack of training for first responders and a reluctance on the part of victims, it is difficult to investigate a very specific crime.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had differing views on Victory Day, the celebration of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

Zelensky recorded a video as he walked between the antitank barriers in Kyiv. Zelensky framed his celebration of that history as a direct challenge to the Kremlin's false claim that neo-Nazis are running his country now.

Today is the Day of Victory over Nazism. He said that they would not give anyone a single piece of our history. Millions of Ukrainians fought Nazis.

Zelensky said that it was Putin who was following in the footsteps of the Nazi invaders.

He said that the one who is repeating the horrible crimes of Hitler is doomed. We will win. There will be two Victory days in Ukraine very soon.

Putin took a different approach. Zelensky's speech sought to provide a spirited defense of his country, but Putin's speech justified the war. Zelensky spoke via a highly produced video, straight to the camera, amid uplifting music, while Putin gave a relatively somber address to Moscow's Red Square before a massive military parade.

The Russian leader compared the current conflict to the World War II effort to expel Nazi Germany.

He said that defending the motherland when its fate is being decided has always been sacred.

Putin did not announce any new offensives on the day of Russian military nationalism.

He painted his war against Ukraine as inevitable. According to a translator on CNN, Putin claimed that the Kremlin had proposed a treaty to NATO that would guarantee Russia's security.

The NATO countries didn't want to hear us. We could see that they had different plans. He said that they were preparing for an invasion of our historic lands in Crimea. Russia annexing the peninsula for itself. The eastern Donbas region was largely controlled by the Moscow backed rebels.

The leader of the Kremlin said that the expansion of the Western military alliance was an unacceptable threat to Russia.

A minute of silence was included in Putin's address.

According to Russia's state-run media outlet Tass, parades will take place in 28 cities across the nation, with 65,000 people taking part, and will include 2,400 military vehicles.
