Jokic won the NBA's Most Valuable Player award for the second year in a row.

The league is expected to make a formal announcement this week.

Jokic would become the 13th player in NBA history to win the award in back-to-back seasons.

Jokic led the league in player efficiency rating, win shares, box plus/minus, and value over replacement player. Jokic averaged 27.1 points on 58.6 percent shooting, 13.8 rebound and 7.9 assists per game.

Denver played without point guard Jamal Murray, who tore his knee in April 2021, and averaged 21.2 points per game last year. He hasn't played since. Michael Porter Jr. only played nine games this year after having back surgery.

Despite losing their second- and third-leading scorers from last season, the Denver Broncos finished sixth in the Western Conference and qualified for the playoffs for the fourth straight year.

Jokic, who had a sensational seventh NBA season, helped Denver return to the playoffs. Denver finished sixth in offensive rating despite missing Murray and Porter.

Jokic was a finalist for the NBA's Most Valuable Player award.
