The Joe Rogan Experience has been dethroning The Joe Rogan Experience for a long time. Most people would rather listen to Batman than Joe Rogan.
Batman Unburied is now the No. 1 podcast in the US, bumping The Joe Rogan Experience. The Joe Rogan Experience was the No. 1 show on the platform after a $200 million deal was signed in 2020. The host of the highly controversial podcast and his company have come under fire for using the N-word and platforming COVID-19 misinformation, with respected artists such as Neil Young and Joni Mitchell condemning the hosting of Rogan.
When Batman Unburied is no longer on the block, Rogan's show will likely take the top spot. The public has decided that it prefers caped crusades.
Batman Unburied was launched on May 3 and tells the story of Bruce Wayne, a forensic pathologist working on the victims of a serial killer. Bruce's occupation isn't the only change in Batman Unburied, and the city isn't quite the same as we're used to. In this series, Batman's famous dead parents aren't dead at all, with Thomas and Martha Wayne showing up to urge their son to go to therapy.
Batman will make an appearance though, so how much his therapist helps remains to be seen.
Batman Unburied is a film written and executive produced by David S. Goyer, who is also known for his work on Black Panther and Jordan Peele's Us. There are a lot of other big names on the show, including Hasan Minhaj as The Riddler, Gina Rodriguez as Barbara Gordon, John Rhys-Davies as Dr. Hunter, and Ashly Burch as Vicki Vale. Lance Reddick and Toks Olagundoye play the roles of Thomas and Martha Wayne.
Batman Unburied is the first podcasts to come out of a 2020 licensing deal between Warner Bros. and Spotify. There are other Warner Bros. characters on the table.
