According to sources, the Golden State Warriors assistant Mike Brown will become the next coach of the Kings.
Sources said that the Kings finalized a deal with Brown over the weekend. The Kings have not been to the playoffs in 16 years, and Brown has a clear organizational mandate to end that.
Sources said that Brown will finish the Warriors run before moving onto his full-time duties with the Kings.
He has eight seasons of head coaching experience and nearly two decades of assistant coaching runs.
Before joining Kerr as an assistant with the Warriors seven years ago, Brown had a 347-216 (.616) record in eight seasons as a head coach. In 2007, Brown was the NBA's Coach of the Year after leading the Cleveland to an Eastern Conference title.
After two seasons with the Lakers, Brown was dismissed five games into the 2012-2013 season in L.A.
Brown has a good playoff record.
