The cold open response to the Supreme Court's seemingly impending decision to overturn the precedent that guarantees a right to abortion is about as funny as the news itself.
The sketch hits on a good idea: highlight the stunning, bald-faced absurdity and evil of a nakedly political decision that has been shoehorned into existence by a Supreme Court led by the conservative views of justices who owe. SNL imagined a 13th century discussion about abortion after the leaked draft decision references a 17th century English judge who supported witch burnings and rape.
It's funny that we've reached maximum ridiculousness and all the terrible shit now so far beyond the pale. It is hard to laugh at such a disgusting move by the forces in modern U.S. life. If you watch this sketch, you are not the audience SNL is aiming to reach.
