The visit by the first lady of the United States to a western Ukrainian border city was the latest in a series of visits by US officials to the country.
The first lady's press secretary Michael LaRosa confirmed the visit to Uzhorod on Sunday morning.
The Washington Post reported that Biden said the surprise visit was to show support for the Ukrainian people.
