Nicol: Liverpool had 'one of those days' at the wrong time (1:36)

Steve Nicol thinks that the draw with Spurs affects their chase for the title. 1:45.

The Quadruple is still on the horizon, but it is starting to look like a more distant dream after the team stumbled in their pursuit of a history.

Even though a draw at home to Spurs on Saturday took them back to the top of the league on goal difference, it could be short-lived with title rivals due to play on Sunday. If Manchester City bounce back from their loss to Real Madrid by beating Eddie Howe's team, they will move three points clear of the competition with just three games to play.

The failure to win against an impressive Spurs team has given City a much-needed boost, even though they knew they had to keep winning.

It could have been a different story if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg hadn't headed sideways rather than at goal from six yards in the fifth minute of injury time.

The miss by Hojbjerg was significant for Spurs. If they had won this game, they would have moved ahead of the other teams in the race for fourth. The draw means that the Gunners are still in front of their neighbours, but they will travel to the Spurs Stadium on Thursday knowing that they can seal a place in the group stages.

The game ended with a draw that neither of the two teams would have liked, but still keeps alive fading hopes of achieving their ambitions.

It was not the result we wanted, but the performance was good and I am fine with that.

It is so hard because Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were completely rested. Nobody has done the Quadruple in this country. We will keep going.

The dressing room isn't flying, but there are other games to play. We have to keep going.

There was a sense of frustration that his team failed to win the game, especially after Hojbjerg's chance to seal victory late on.

It was difficult for my players to play in this atmosphere. The players are disappointed that they didn't win in the final minutes. They showed they have a lot of desire.

The battle for a top four spot is between Spurs and Arsenal and it could be decided on Thursday. They could become the first team to achieve a Quadruple in three weeks if City win the title, but they could also end up with just the Carabao Cup to show for their efforts.

Judgement Day is coming fast in each competition, but the Reds are still playing well. They were unfortunate not to beat Spurs, but they have an attacking threat who has been a revelation since signing from Porto.

After coming on as a substitute against Villarreal in the second leg of the European semifinals on Tuesday, he was the match-winner with a shot from 20 yards on 74 minutes that salvaged a point.

The ability to score and create, as well as the pace and confidence he has in running at defenders, make him indispensable. How often he starts over the next three weeks could be the key to whether or not the club makes it to the next round.

Both Real and Real Madrid will not want to face him at Wembley and the Stade de France, but the performance against Spurs would have given the two final opponents some hope.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was nowhere to be seen when Ryan Sessegnon passed the ball to Son for the first goal of the game.

The loss of Andy Robertson to injury midway through the second-half will be of interest to both Real and Chelsea, as they will target Alexander-Arnold on the left.

Even though they are still a formidable force in so many areas, they can only score once and almost lose the game at the end, so they are a team with vulnerabilities as well.

Every time they are exposed over the next three weeks, it could end hopes in any of the three competitions.

The dropped points against Spurs have lengthened the odds against them in the premier league It may impact on the cups if that one is not found.
