Russian millionaires have invested in luxury real estate in the US, from high-end apartments in Florida to multi-million dollar homes in New York City.

Andrew Adams, the head of the Justice Department's KleptoCapture task force, said that those assets are at the top of the Justice Department's list.

All sorts of assets are on the table. Adams told CNN in an interview that bringing up real estate is important. Real estate is at the top of the list.

He told the outlet that investigators look for extremely expensive real estate in stable economies.

The KleptoCapture task force was created by the Biden administration to hold accountable corrupt Russians after the invasion of Ukraine.

Adams noted that federal forfeiture law requires layers of litigation before the government can seize an individual's private property. Last week, President Biden proposed a new White House plan that would allow the government to sell seized Russian assets in order to raise money for Ukraine.

US real estate is a steady, if not profitable, investment. Gary Kalman, executive director of the anti-corruption organization, told Insider that it was perfect for actors to hide their money.

Kalman believes in constitutional rights and is an anti-corruption guy.
