Is the car moving fast? A group of sinners in purgatory?
It's easy to see how anyone could mistake the sounds of a black hole recorded by NASA for something else. NASA has been listening to the sounds of the black hole since 2003
The black hole's pressure waves are translated into a note in the clip below. NASA said that the misconception that space doesn't have any sound is only true in places where space is a vacuum and doesn't provide a medium for sound waves to move through. A galaxy cluster has gas that surrounds hundreds or even thousands of galaxies, giving it a sound medium.
It's hard to get spooky nature sounds, like whale song and machines that help mushrooms.
The team re-sonified the sound waves so humans could hear the black hole. The team spent more than 400 hours observing the sounds and scaling them to their true pitch, which is about 7 piano-lengths.
Hats off to the team for going the distance so we don't get spooked.
Musk says that humanity will be on Mars within the decade.
