Carlos Alcaraz upset world number one Novak Djokovic in a three-set thriller to reach the Madrid Open final.
The 19-year-old Spaniard followed up his quarter-final win over Nadal with a 6-7 (5-7) 7-5 7-6 (7-5) success.
Alcaraz delighted the home crowd with some brilliant drop shots.
He will face either Alexander Zverev or Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.
Alcarez is the first player to beat both Nadal and Djokovic on the same day on a clay court.
He won his first Masters 1000 title in Miami last month, which helped him get into the top 10 for the first time.
The teenager broke the Serb in the opening game, but the Serb broke back in the eighth game to make it 4-4.
Alcaraz gave his opponent a couple of break-point chances late in the set, but he was unable to convert. He went up in the first-set tie-break and although the Spaniard came back to 5-5, he took it.
The second set was a tight one and the teenager made the most of his tired service game to level the match.
When Alcaraz earned a match point in the 10th game of the third set, it put pressure on the Serb's serve.
The Serb went on to level the match at 5-5 with an ace. The match would be decided on another tie-break after the players held their next service game.
The youngest-ever Madrid finalist was Alcaraz, who went 2-0 ahead and maintained his lead before winning on his third match point with a forehand winner.
