Comics creator George Perez behind DC Comics and Marvel characters.

George Pérez, the acclaimed comics writer and artist behind such works as Crisis on Infinite Earths, passed away at the age of 67.

He passed away peacefully at home with his wife and family by his side on May 6th, according to a message on his Facebook page. DC Comics artists came together to celebrate the titan in a legendary piece of artwork featuring an assortment of characters he illustrated for the publisher over the years. In honor of his birthday on June 9, this two-page spread will be published in every issue in June.

Pérez began his career in the 70s as a penciller for back up stories in 1974's Astonishing Tales #25. He created White Tiger, the first Puerto Rican superhero, with Bill Mantlo, and then drew the villain Taskmaster for the first issue of the Avenger.

Robin, Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, and other members of the New TeenTitans are now defacto lineup of Dick Grayson, P&E9;rez, and Marv Wolfman. He did art on Justice League of America, but it was his work on the show that drew the most attention. In addition to teaming with Wolfman again for the aforementioned Crisis, several other highlights in P&E9's career include the 1987 reboot of Wonder Woman, going back to Marvel to draw for Jim Starlin's 1991 limited series, and forming the team-up with Wolfman for He got to work with Kurt Busiek on a limited series in 2003-2004.
