Raymond Lee in the first look at the Quantum Leap reboot.

The cult classic Quantum Leap, starring Scott Bakula and the late Dean Stockwell, has been on-and-off for some time. Donald Bellisario made a script for a film that was supposed to pick up where the series left off, but late last year news began to swirl of NBC attempting a remake of the show. NBC decided to order a full series after shooting its pilot back in January.

The original Leap will continue in the modern day, as revealed by Deadline on Friday. At the end of the fifth and final season, Dr. Sam Beckett learned that his quest to travel through time and right various injustices throughout history would be an eternal one. Raymond Lee is the leader of a new team that is trying to uncover the secrets of Beckett. Lee is joined in the series by several other people.

It doesn't appear that Beckett's return is in the cards, even though it seems like the new Quantum Leap would be about finding a way to bring Beckett back. If NBC decides to pick up Unbroken, it will air in the fall, but he is also an executive producer on the reboot, and he is also starring in it. With a full series order in the works, the new Quantum Leap is expected to be air right after The Voice, and will be one of the many shows to air at the beginning of the fall TV season. We have to wait for the first look at this new take on the beloved series.
