Todd Boehly, co-owner of the LA Dodgers baseball team, is part of a group that has agreed terms for the sale of the football club.

Roman Abramovich's company was put up for sale before he was hit with sanctions for his alleged links to Putin.

The club's shares will be paid for by the new owners.

The money will be put into a frozen bank account.

The group led by Mr Boehly and Clearlake Capital will provide over one billion dollars to invest in the club.

The sale is expected to be completed in late May. The takeover will need the approval of the English and UK governments.

According to Forbes, Mr Boehly has a net worth of over $4 billion.

He is a part owner of the Dodgers, a US baseball team, as well as the Los Angeles Sparks, a US women's basketball outfit, and a stake in the LA Lakers NBA franchise.
