It's prom season, and no one is doing it better than Mississippi high schoolers, who are showing off their long sequined evening gowns that match their nails and sports cars on TikTok.
The #MississippiProm series is a review of looks from her home state. The idea to do prom came from her younger sister, who is 19 and has lots of friends still in high school.

Shannon High School has a senior named Shamiya Guyton. Her look was featured in the first video of the brand, and it was a royal blue dress with a dramatic train and blue BMW. Guyton said she started putting her ideas together about two months before.
She said she was on the board and saw all the pretty dresses.
She borrowed her dress from someone, ordered press-on nails online, and got her hair done in her hometown.

She borrowed her matching car from the neighborhood. I was going to Texas to get a car for my pictures. It was that deep!
One of her friends spotted the car on the internet. He let her borrow the car for the prom. It adds a hundred more points for that type of vibe.
Taylor Young, a junior, wore a red shirt to make her gown stand out, and her date took photos in a silver sports car, posing with bands to add to the effect of glamor. Young said that she began planning a month in advance.
She said it was difficult. Making sure everything goes together is what it's all about. My date told me that he wanted to wear black. It was wonderful.
She shared lots of tips and tricks to make it through the night, but she said the nails were long. I could not operate with them on the day of prom, so I wore slip-on flats to make sure I could spend the night dancing.
Young said she spent about $1,000 and Guyton spent around $1,200.
Guyton's mother was the bank on the project.

Young said that the atmosphere leading up to prom is similar to that of anticipating a final look on the runway.
Living in a rural area makes it even more exciting.
Guyton said one of the biggest prom dress trends of the next decade was incorporating feathers with a surprise element.
Local custom prom dressmakers made many of the dresses. A mother in the neighborhood designed Young's. The pink evening gown that was a fan favorite was made by a 14-year-old girl.
People in Mississippi can put amazing things together with the resources they have.
Guyton will attend Mississippi State University to study nursing and bioscience. Young hopes to study real estate or nursing after graduation, as she continues her tenure on the cheer team.
She said it was cool to see Mississippi in a different light and have a positive experience with the state. I think it is important and maintains pride in who we are.
