The first free-to-play game available through the Xbox Cloud gaming service is Fortnite. You can log in and play with your friends if you have a Microsoft account that is linked to yourEpic Games account.
There are a lot of in-app purchases to be had, but the core experience is completely free. While it is still in a testing stage, the game is not bad and is available in 26 countries.
Depending on your location and connection speed, input lag may vary. It does affect first person shooter games, but we were able to navigate and play without issue.
You can connect a controller for a more console-like experience, or you can play using touch-based controls.
It is worth noting that Microsoft has a browser-based version of the game that is currently in closed alpha, but it is also available to everyone. We tried out a very similar gaming experience through GeForce NOW.
If you want to play games on the go or only use an iPad, the Xbox Cloud gaming platform is a viable option.
