The electric vehicle company owned by billionaire and soon-to-be Twitter owner Elon Musk is paying for employees to get abortions outside of their state.

Last year, the company began providing an expanded Safety Net program and health insurance offering, which includes travel and lodging support for those who may need to seek healthcare services that are unavailable in their home.

After the six-week mark, abortion was banned in Texas.

A growing number of companies are helping employees access abortion care in the wake of new restrictions passed at the state level, as well as fresh concerns about the future of the law, following the leak of a draft opinion.

It puts Musk at odds with some of his cheerleaders and puts him at odds with conservatives.

A bill was introduced this week by Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida that would prevent companies from making tax deductions for employees who have abortions.

The bill would make sure that this doesn't happen.

Though the impact report makes no mention of minor issues, the company does say that it has provided trans gender benefits aligned with the clinical protocol set forth by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health.

The bill is part of a long-standing crusade by the one-time 2016 presidential candidate against what he sees as collusion between big business and Marxism.

During a speech last fall, he said that corporate leaders were the product of decades of anti-American indoctrination at our elite universities and they felt no obligation to America or its national interest. Big business is not an ally in the fight against socialism.

The Musk purchase caused a "meltdown" among the far left because they fear that they will lose the power to threaten, silence and destroy anyone, according to the senator.

The office of the senator did not respond to the request for comment.

Some of the Florida senator's Republican colleagues were more enthusiastic about Musk's purchase.

Ted Cruz of Texas said it was the most important development for free speech in decades.

While Musk's commitment to free speech and seeming disdain for the progressive left has given hope to some conservatives, the tech billionaires' ideology may prove too libertarian for a party increasingly interested in using the power of the state to promote conservative values.

Musk said in a September 2021 post that he would prefer to stay out of politics.
