According to Deadline, the Quantum Leap revival will star Raymond Lee as a new scientist with a swiss-cheesed memory and a mandate to change history for the better. Kevin Can F**k Himself and Top Gun: Maverick star Lee is one of the cast members for the series. The roster from the original show had just Scott Bakula and the late Dean Stockwell in regular roles, teaming up with a new guest cast in a new era every single episode.
The revival is set in-continuity with the original series, and one of the biggest questions is whether Bakula will appear in it.
It's entirely possible that the show could get around the absence of Bakula by introducing a version of Sam who jumps into someone else and runs. The fan fiction folder is full if the Quantum Leap writers need help crafting any of these scenarios. Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt have co-credits on many genre TV shows of the last decade, including Hawaii 5-0, God Friended Me, and more. Donald P. Bellisario and Deborah Pratt are both set to executive produce.
