A patent application for a new technology that would allow vehicle owners to remotely start their engines was spotted by 7th mustang and other Ford enthusiast sites.
The patent was published on May 5th, 2022, according to the Ford Authority. According to the application, the technology would allow vehicle owners to use an input device and not have to push down on the engine. The engine of the vehicle could be remotely engaged.
The Ford Remote Control Revving Patent was granted by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
It seems like an idea was created for car enthusiasts. I wouldn't normally associate Ford with a company that could make an engine growl at the touch of a button.
Silicon Valley companies such asTesla have received all the media attention for their untraditional approach to new vehicle features, while the Detroit automaker and its brethren have largely stood to the side. The Boombox mode of the company can broadcast custom audio on the outside of the car.
This seems like an idea generated almost exclusively for car enthusiasts
Ford is not ready to turn its vehicles into rolling whoopee cushions. The patent application shows that the company is trying to think outside the box when it comes to new features.
According to Ford Authority, the company has filed a number of patent applications in recent months aimed at enthusiasts, including drift mode and a remote parking feature. A remote engine revving feature would be a huge hit for those owners who attend auto shows who want to show off their car without having to get inside every time.
A patent application doesn't mean that Ford is going to install this technology in all of its vehicles. It is difficult to get a patent approved.
