Swiss police say they have seized 500 kilogrammes of cocaine from a shipment of coffee.

White powder was found in sacks of coffee beans at the plant in Romont.

More of the drug was found in five shipping containers. The shipment was thought to have come from Brazil.

The coffee capsule production at the plant was not affected by the drug.

The coffee company wants to assure consumers that their products are safe to consume.

The cocaine was 80% pure and had an estimated street value of more than 50 million dollars.

The head of security for the region said it was a big seizure for the canton of Fribourg.

Police said the cocaine was destined for the European market.
