Pete Carroll doesn't see the team trading for a quarterback.
During an interview with Sports Radio 950 KJR-AM in Seattle, Carroll made comments. He was not specifically asked about Baker Mayfield, but if the Seahawks are interested in adding a veteran quarterback with starting experience.
"We're always competing, but fortunately that's always", he said, giving one of his stock responses to the questions. We are looking. I don't think we will make a trade for anyone. I don't think that will happen. We will continue to be open to opportunities to help our club, and we will be competing and fighting our tails off. We keep open the possibilities.
The Russell Wilson trade has led to speculation that the Seattle Seahawks could be the site of Baker Mayfield's departure from the Cleveland Browns. He guessed that Seattle would be his most likely landing spot during an appearance on the Ya Never Know.
One factor that is holding up his trade market is that he will make a guaranteed $19 million this season, but he could be signed for any amount in the event that the Browns weren't able to find a trade partner and were forced to release him.
Smith and Lock are the two quarterbacks who are vying to replace Wilson. Levi Lewis is a free agent from Louisiana Lafayette.
After his comment about not trading for a veteran quarterback, he was asked about the possibility of adding one who could become a free agent.
There is no chance that I will tell you anything more than what I told you, but I love you for trying. We will be ready for the case if it presents itself.
