Sources told Adrian that there is progress that could be made to change the status of Embiid in time to play on Friday.

76ers coach Doc Rivers said Thursday that he hasn't been cleared from the NBA's concussion protocol. Until he does, he can only be listed as out.

When asked if there was a change in the status of the player, Rivers said no. I am not a doctor. He has to get through the concussion protocols and other things, but I don't know all.

The Philadelphia 76ers center hasn't played since being hit in the face with an elbow by the Toronto Raptors in the first round of the playoffs.

The Philadelphia 76ers have missed their star player, who was named a finalist for the NBA Most Valuable Player Award for the second year in a row. The Heat were able to cruise to easy victories in the first two games without Kyle Lowry.

Several Heat players, including P.J. Tucker and Tyler Herro, are questionable for Game 3.

Several Heat players and their coach said they were anticipating the return of Embiid after the victory in Game 2.

When asked what the return of Embiid would mean for the series, Spoelstra said it would change dramatically. We will have to see.

We knew that this series was going to change if he came back. He changes the equation quite a bit when we get a couple wins first.

After the 76ers shot just 14-for-64 from 3-point range in the first two games of the series, Rivers is optimistic that Philadelphia can get back into it.

I feel great, but should I feel bad? We lost two games. We played hard last night when you watched the film. Our guys competed. There is something wrong with that if anyone has a problem with it. We got some great shots. Since there is a lot of analytical people out there, it was our 12th-best shot profile of the year, which means we did not make shots, but we got great shots and I believe in the guys we play on the floor. We got great shots in the first game. Didn't like them as much. We had a lot of open shots in Game 2. There were tons of open 3s.

The game came down to the 3-point line in a lot of ways. We missed theirs. I think we believe in our players.
