The Summer Game Fest will begin on June 9th at 2PM and 11AM with a live show hosted by my college friend and video game hype-man,Geoff Keighley.
After the premiere show, there will be Day of the Developers, where game developers can show off their work. Developers submit their games for consideration to be included in the show. Iam8bit and Double Fine are the same studio that presented last year's show. The SGF website says to keep an eye out for the announcement of other partners that will be part of the show.
There is an elephant in the room for this announcement. The gaming convention was canceled earlier this year. In recent years, there has been a trend of the big game studios just holding their own press conferences or events. The Summer Game Fest website states that on June 12th, Microsoft is holding an Xbox and Bethesda games showcase.
Keighley seems to be aware of the shifting landscape. The Summer Game Fest was announced just as we heard about E3 being canceled, and one person joked about the fest being named Keigh3 this year. Summer Game Fest will be the thing to watch this year if you are waiting for news on a game. Last year at the show, we saw an Elden Ring trailer and the announcement of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.
